Nurse (HRO Coordinator)

At the VISN level the role/responsibilities of the HRO Lead centers largely on working collaboratively with both VISN and Facility Leadership and HRO workgroups in the implementation of HRO activates across the network. The HRO Lead also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the topic of High reliability. Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Serve as a member of the VISN HRO Workgroup. 2. Serve as HRO SME to the VISN and Facility-based HRO Workgroups. 3. Coordinate, plan, and implement VISN HRO activities. 4. Implement key elements of the HRO strategic plan across the network. 5. Provide regular guidance and oversight to the Facility-based HRO Workgroup. 6. Conduct formal teleconference meetings with all Facility- based HRO Workgroups monthly. 7. Communicate regularly with National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) and participate in VISN HRO Workgroup monthly teleconference meetings conducted by NCPS. 8. Conduct or participate in Facility site visits conducted by the VISN and/or NCPS to review and promote HRO activities. 9. Assist in implementation of the VISN and Facility Patient Safety Program as outlined by NCPS and VHA Handbook 1050.01. 10. Assist in the implementation and sustainment of a robust Root Cause Analysis (RCA) program at each Facility. 11. Assist in the implementation and sustainment of a Just Culture at the VISN and Facility level. 12. Assist in the implementation of Clinical Team Training (CTT) Program requirements at the VISN and Facility level as prescribed by the NCPS CTT Letter of Commitment. 13. Assist Facilities in establishing an in-house perpetual CRM training program. 14. Review pertinent VISN and Facility data from available sources related to the Patient Safety Program and additional HRO activities for the purposes of improvement. 15. Oversee HRO initiatives, outcomes, and best practices in VISN facilities. 16. Spread best practices across the network. 17. Conduct ongoing HRO educational activities. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse IV - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 4-5 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and appropriate basic or advanced certification desired, and approximately 3-4 years of nursing practice/experience. Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
