NUCLEAR SYSTEMS ENGINEER/SCIENTIST

The successful candidate will perform the full range of duties as the Nuclear Systems Engineer/Scientist.Such duties include but are not limited to:
1. Provides advice and technical evaluation to NSIR/DIRO and Regional office staffs involving issues associated with the activities of NRC licensees and their facilities. 2. Assigned as the cognizant NRC technical representative in the continuously staffed NRC Operations Center or Region IV Incident Response Center at least 10% of the time. In this capacity, directly receives, assesses, and responds to notifications of emergencies or reportable events occurring at NRC licensed facilities, radiological transportation accidents and other radiological events. 3. Notifying appropriate NRC personnel and other government offices in accordance with established procedures and timely safety assessment of the event after immediate response actions are completed. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE must have a thorough knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of engineering or scientific disciplines such as nuclear, chemical, mechanical, electrical, and health physics equivalent gained through a B.S. degree in engineering, or science and at least 5 years experience, or a combination of education and experience. In addition, in order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the 801 or 1301 series in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as:
1. Ability to implement the NRC regulatory program, including application of NRC standards, rules and regulations for nuclear facilities. 2. Experience that demonstrates detailed knowledge of the equipment and operation related to nuclear power reactors including safety features, accident mitigation, emergency response, radiological safety, codes, standards, and procedures. 3. Ability to communicate and present technical information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
