Human Resources Assistant (Class/OA)

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Classification Requests & Assistance Serves as the point of contact for customers on basic classification issues and refers more technical questions to a Specialist or the CCU Chief. Answers general questions from customers regarding processes for classifying positions, consultations, formatting questions, etc. Reviews incoming requests for re-descriptions, reorganizations, or establishment of new positions. Screens submissions for completeness and accuracy. Answers general questions from managers or employees regarding the classification process and filing any appeals. Presents training to supervisors and staff on the classification submission process. Researches files and assembles background information for Specialists. Assist customers with the Classification LEAF workflow system and provides support to the customers as needed. Responsible for providing technical guidance for all positions assigned. Reports, Data & Records Management Maintains regulations, standards, and appeal decisions used in classification work and updates files. Coordinates with HRIS and the Classification Specialist to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is collected. Maintains organization charts, verifies data and assures that charts contain proper structure and reflect the accurate number of positions by title, series, grade, and position number. Assists Specialists by maintaining automated databases to track information and extract data. Consolidates and coordinates classification requests. Completes special projects. Classification and Functional Statements Executes the entirety of the classification process for standardized position descriptions, and/or less complex position descriptions by gathering information, interacting with supervisors, and reviewing classification standards and organization charts. Analyzes duties using appropriate classification standards, theories and practices in accordance with applicable OPM classification standards. Applies OPM standards to lower level grades. Enters supplemental data to the Optional Form-8, such as competitive levels, FLSA, etc. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

In addition to meeting experience requirements, applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may be asked to provide a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency (which may be verified at a later step in the process). You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of classification standards to obtain and clarify facts related to position descriptions and functional statements to respond to requests; Recommends improved position alignment and determines the appropriate title, series, and grade of assigned positions, in accordance with directives; Knowledge of current automated systems to retrieve and analyze information used to generate documents, records, reports, etc.; Knowledge of functional and competitive level coding. Inputs and retrieves information for position descriptions, evaluation statements, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, reports, and correspondence.; Ability to coordinate actions, develop facts, and/or provide support in order to respond to routine or standard inquiries concerning appropriate use of HR directives, policies or practices. NOTE:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
