Vehicle Description 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible Back in the 30s only 1 person out of 50 in Germany owned a vehicle.
They really couldn't afford anything more elaborate than a motorcycle.
Well to rectify that, in 1937, the German Labour Group introduced the iconic Volkswagen or in GermanThe Peoples Car.
These cars proved to be very popular, so much so that they are still being made today.
Although their models have expanded to other names like the Golf, Passat, etc the Beetle is one of the most widely recognized cars throughout history.
There are entire clubs dedicated to preserving their history and even children can point them out while playing Slug Bug or Punch Buggy.
To commemorate passing the Ford Model T's records sales Volkswagen introduced their first limited edition car known as the Super Beetle.
The 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible you see here is an extremely clean car and was restored 19,297 miles ago.
It has been extremely well cared for since so despite being driven it is in freshly restored condition.
It currently resides with its second owner who purchased the car in 2015 from the original owners family.
The original owner did the restoration and the car comes with the manuals and some extra parts.
The body is very solid with no rust and painted in a Red base coat with clear coat.
It has a very slick finish.
That Red is paired with a new Black convertible canvas top and it does come with a boot cover.
All of the chrome/trim is in excellent condition throughout.
The car has a new windshield with an electric windshield washer pump that is an upgrade from the original.
The car rides on a nice set of aftermarket Black Empi wheels which look great.
In back the car has a new 1600cc engine which was actually won by the previous owner at a VW car show.
It runs very well and utilizes a rebuilt carburetor, serpentine belt system, electronic ignition, new battery, and new fuel pump.
Other nice upgrades include a custom exhaust system and the addition of front disc brakes with a new master cylinder.
The rest of the drive train is the original components but they were all redone during the restoration.
The manual 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly with zero issues.
The interior of the car was completely redone in a two tone Gray and Black tweed.
It has aftermarket high back bucket seats up front and 3 point seat belts which are a nice upgrade.
It also has Coco floor mats in place to protect the new Gray carpeting.
The dash has the original style layout but has been fitted with an Alpine radio with bluetooth and CD player.
In front of the driver sits a Grant Formula GT steering wheel and everything inside the car looks great.
The trunk up front offers plenty of storage space and was entirely reupholstered as well.
If you are in the market for a nice 72 VW and want nothing but the best then this is one to check out.
It is an excellent driver and a very clean example of the Super Beetle convertible.
