Vehicle Description 1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee A12 With the success of the Plymouth Road Runner, in 1968, Dodge Divisions General Manager requested a similar model from the Dodge styling office.
They held a contest which the senior designer won with his Super Bee name and logo design.
The name was inspired by the B body platform used for Chrysler's mid sized cars.
Although they shared a similar design as the Road Runner the Super Bee had a slightly larger wheel base, was slightly heavier, had larger wheel openings, a fancier grill, and that unique Bumble Bee tail stripe.
They also opted for actual die cast chrome medallions to show off the new Bee logo.
This 1969 Super Bee is a beautifully restored car that has been fully documented.
Halfway through 1969 the A12 package was introduced which incorporate the 440 6 pack motor, Dana 60 rear, 4:
10 gears and a lift off black scooped hood.
This is a true A12 M-code car which were their factory hot rods.
Online it is reported that 1,907 were produced but according to Galen Govier's documentation of this car as of 2013 only 420 were shipped in the US from the Lynch Road, Michigan plant where all were produced.
In his registry only 114 of those have been documented.
This car is extremely clean and painted in its original Hemi Orange exterior with the correct Black hood and Black tail stripe.
The original chrome bumpers are nicely mounted in place and have a great shine.
The glass is in great shape as well.
Part of the A12 package was also the Black painted steel wheels with high performance red line tires which are all in good condition.
Under that lift off hood is the iconic 440 V8 6 pack motor.
Everything was refinished to look very stock and original.
The motor runs and sounds great.
It is paired with its original 833 code 4 speed manual transmission and Dana 60 rear end.
Other components in the special ordered package included heavier duty engine internals as well as strong 11 inch drum brakes.
The undercarriage of the car is very clean with solid floors and zero issues.
The interior of the car has been all redone in its stock Black color.
It has its original factory split front bench seat and the upholstery is all in great condition.
The carpet also looks good and it has a floor shifter that moves through the gears with ease.
The dash has its stock layout with original gauges and it is a factory radio delete car.
Another unique option was the remote adjustable drivers side mirror.
That is the only other factory option on the car which tells you the intention of the original owner.
With the A12 package and radio delete they were clearly after a factory race car focused on performance.
The trunk is all nicely finished out with an original style mat and it houses a matching spare.
This rare mopar is in great condition and with only 516 miles since the full restoration still has a fresh look.
Put this rare classic in your collection for $138,500.
