Vehicle Description 1971 Chevrolet Corvette The Sting Ray name was initially used in 1963 for the C2 generation of Corvettes and returned for the following C3 generation but was shortened to being 1 word.
Looking at these cars design the name fits perfectly considering its flat but wide and pointed front end which really brings to mind the name of the sea creature.
These cars were modeled after Larry Shinoda's Mako Shark II which would later be renamed to Manta Ray.
Interestingly, during the time leading up to the C3 unveiling GM was trying their best to keep their appearance a secret but Hot Wheels released a die cast of the Mako Shark II which many fans dubbed the a Custom Corvette.
This cool Corvette is a 1971 which is a unique year for the C3.
Just 1 year later in 1972 emissions laws and the SAE horsepower measurements were introduced leading to a large reduction of the horsepower the Corvette was allowed to produce.
'72 also marked the last year for the chrome bumpers.
This makes the 1971 a popular year to own especially when it is fitted with with the more desirable big block motor.
This car is a nice survivor car and is believed to be all original throughout.
